Substack has not been a big success story for me. I post classic ghost story audio episodes here and they get some opens and some comments. However, it takes as much work for me to post here as to Spotify or YouTube and there is nowhere near the response.
My feeling is that Substack is for people writing articles with a strong slant one way or the other - very much like traditional journalism. Opinion pieces and suchlike.
I would like to close my Substack but I have 67 paying members.
I would like to encourage you to close your membership on Substack. I am trying out Podia and have a website with links to join the community at www.classicghost.com
However, I am still exploring Podia and it might be that it requires more internet skills to sign up and navigate than many of the classic Classic Ghost Stories Podcast followers are comfortable with.
But I’d like to close Substack and then if Podia doesn’t work, concentrate on Patreon.
What do you substackers think about this? You may love this platform and this may be where you want to stay.
Let me know
I agree that Substack is probably not a great platform for what you need. If it's not worth the effort, I say move on. Better to do things well on fewer platforms than try to make everyone happy. I've never heard of Podia but I'm willing to try it out.
I think it was worth a try on Substack as it would have reached people that otherwise wouldn’t have listened.
I have Patreon also and do go there occasionally for you and Jasper’s stories.
On my Classic Ghost Stories podcast - private feed( on Apple podcast app) I notice I get some content eg, The Haunting of Westwell Hall, that isn’t on YouTube. So, for me, I spend most of my listening to you and Jasper ( and others) on YouTube and the Podcast app.
But at the end of the day it’s what gives you the best return for your work. I would swap over to a new provider if you recommend it. Cheers
